here I go...

In about an hour we leave for the airport.

This time tomorrow we'll be half way to Hong Kong.

Right now Law's half way to LA.

Let the adventuring begin.

I'll miss you all!!! love jess xo

ps I reckon this is a valid excuse for lack of blogs in the next few weeks. But when I get back there'll be THREE weeks worth of comments, woah! So i've got a challenge for you guys - 20 entertaining (or non-entertaining, your choice) comments by the time I get back. I don't reckon you can do it (notice subtle reverse psychology). That way you'll never notice I'm gone from blogland!

TONGUE TWISTER 2: (to be said all in one breath)
Betty Botter bought some butter
"But", she said " the butter's bitter!
If i put it in my batter
It will make my batter bitter!"
So Betty Botter bought a bit of better butter, better than her bitter butter, and put it in her batter so her batter was no bitter
So it was better Betty Botter
Bought a bit of better butter.

well i have just finally gotten to your blog. just so you know, i miss you heaps, of course I haven't seen you in a little bit longer than everyone else (4 months!!!) but anyway, the other day i went to a waterpark with annie, beth, their friend kara and annie's sisters and we got lost and drove about an hour in the wrong direction. the whole time I was thinking about all the hilarious times we (and other ppl) have gotten lost together- like in school, while skiing, driving to em or law's house (somehow, steph, your house is easy to find!) and esp that one time that we drove in the wrong direction- you were driving and it was you, me, dave and andre in the car and we were going crazy because we didnt know where we were and the guys were wandering around outside. i think it was after law's sometime. anyway, that's probably not a very good description but i hope you remember. i am just getting more mushy as these months wear on aren't i? anyway, have heaps of fun, or whatever you have on this trip- maybe eye-opening experiences and I can't wait to read/hear about it! Love Lib xox

Did you know that reindeer milk has more fat in it than cows milk? I bet you're all glad you do now!

sez said...

hmm, next time i'm offered reindeer milk i'll have to decline then i guess... damn...

Anzy said...

did you know that reindeer hair is 10 times stronger than human hair? It has actually been used as in stitches before to heal skin n stuff, because it is stronger and helps bind the skin quicker... Amazing eh?!

Anzy said...

for the record... i made that up. I just thought i'd get in on the reindeer action ;)

Emma Smith said...

Anzy said...

yes lib! Adelaide now officially has 2 starbucks. What is the world coming to that our wonderful Adelaide is converting to Americanism... before long we shall have a president and a star spangled anthem. But for the record.. i love coffee, so i love starbucks!

back to the reindeer facts, presuming rudolph was always at the front, there are 40,320 ways to arrange the other 8 reindeer.

you serious?! thats heaps!
and there're TWO starbucks? there's the one in the city, where's the other one???

sez said...

wooo, i got comment #30!! :D

Anonymous said...

here's another amazing fact for you all- 23% of all photocopier faults worldwide are caused by people sitting on them and photocopying their butts.

Anonymous said...

hey jess!

i bet your mad that you haven't had a comment from me yet..particularly as i requested (demanded?) emails from you... and it has taken me rather long to comment i suppose...so i will just have to make up for that by making this the longest comment so far.

interesting story as to why i have not commented yet..it became one of those weird cycles because when i originally read the post there were zero comments..so of course im like sweet, i can be the first to comment..but then, on trying to comment..i freaked out. yes that is right. i, freaked out. why, you might ask, did i freak out (you might also ask why it is taking so long to get to the point..refer to my former discussion on this being the longest comment so far) well i freaked out as i did not know what to write. and when we have been challenged to come up with 20 comments, the first comment is vital. it get the ball rolling. so, should it be the general "have a great trip, i miss you, i love you" sort of thing, thus setting the scene for some loving comments to follow, because of course, everyone would take into account what to say based on the original and then following comments (or possibly, i just over-analyse). my other commenting options included humourous jokes, a long rambling about my day from getting up through brushing my teeth and going to bed at night or, a series of fun tongue twisters :) (red blood yellow blood). these would set a suitable atmosphere for some fun and entertaining comments.

so there i was, fingers poised above the keyboard. i made a decision. i typed a few lines. then i deleted it. i changed my mind, typed another few lines. deleted it. then i re typed it. then i deleted it. and i realised, the reason i cannot comment yet is because i have no idea what kind of comments other people will write as i have nothing to go by..there are no other comments. and i want my comment to make friends with the other comments. i dont want it to be an outcast.. i dont want it to be a loner. i do, as you may have noticed, want it to stand out and be unique :) BUT i want it to fit in and have its place.

its like when you had to do an oral presentation in english and noone wants to go first. because they all remember the times when they wrote out a nice speech that they were happy with and then someone got up and went first and interpreted the assignment completely differently and then you sat there, praying someone else does one like yours so you wouldnt feel like an idiot, fail, embarrass yourself... you want to make sure yours is ok by comparing it to others. well i still retain that english fear..yes, i was afraid i would misinterpret the assignment.

so what did i do..i left it. but then, as the comment number steadily rose, i faced a new problem. i didnt particularly want a comment that didnt stand out. first comment= stand out. starting a tongue twister faze= quality. i wanted to show you that i cared by providing an awesome comment. yes, i could see now how it could fit in and play nicely.. but i still wanted something different. especially if i am suddenly randomly commenting weeks later..i need to look like i have put thought into it and make a special effort seeing as i left it so long. so i again, put it off. i believe i may also have been through a short period where i refused to comment on the basis that i do not repond to "subtle" reverse psychology...yet, here i am now, with not much to do except spend my time commenting and thus contributing to the greater good of blogging. also, am slowly confirming that i really really REALLY over analyse things, and am wasting my intellect on trivial matters like assessing commenting patterns.. how awkward for me. Also noting that if i perhaps learned not to just ramble on as i write i may have performed better in english. and also, if i had just commented in the first place and shouldered the burden of getting the commenting ball a rolling i would have saved myself time and my fingers energy. incidentally, at the cook off which u unfortunatly could not attend, i sliced my left index finger whilst cuttin an apple which kinda hurt and bled alot.. but this leaves my in a typing predicament as i actually am a terrrible typer as i just use my two index finger...i have incidentally got quite fast despite this... so at them moment i am typing with my left middle finger and my right index finger only.. which really feels quite weird..i bit lopsided. guess what..i have written over 800 words! isnt that amazing!

so i hope you are having an amazing time in africa, actually read a book yesterday that was set in africa, called the no. 1 ladies detective agency, and i like it very much. by the way. feel free to challenge the length of this comment.. i am hoping i am the only insanse one here and it is actually the longest... you would have to assume... wow. i really am starting a habit of embarrassing myself through blogs. could be a hard one to break. so im going to post this now..maybe i should be mean and post it as anonymous..that could be amusing, though i feel you would work out very quickly it was me..but then im pretty sure i only know one or two of the people who have commented so far, which could make it annoying for the rest... i dont know.. i could just say it was me..i wonder if i will (slash did..because one reading this..you will know whether i did...) going to end this comment approximately now.

wow that is an epic comment but an interesting read none the less! I am eager to know who anonymous is but I assume Jess will be able to enlighten us all even if "anonymous" chooses not to reveal themselves! Some school buddy by the sounds of things. Like Sez I am also eager to know where the 2ND starbucks is in Adelaide?! I was aware of the one in Rundle Mall but where has the other one sprung up? Answers please Anna seeing as you are the one who initially divulged the information!

Anzy said...

Firstly "Anonymous"-you have surpassed any expectations of comment leaving by jess and possibly even of the world.
Secondly- oh coffee fans, do not be disheartened.. I have the answers!
Starbucks 1)Rundle Street
Starbucks 2)Noarlunga (why i ask?!?!)
Starbucks 3)Glenelg (coming september)
And just for fun
TONGUE TWISTER 3: six thick thistle sticks

WOAH my expectations were well and truly surpassed!! ... note again subtle reverse psychology, bcoz I really did believe that you could do it... or did i ...? Lol ok well I'm glad you did, they are well amusing - I was actually speechless and laughing so much when I read yours Emma (C - anon)( I knew who it was straight away ;)!!) and Anna, impressive quantity - and quality entertainment as well! I feel greatly loved that there weren't just like 3 :p! Can't wait to catch up with you all and see whats been going on (already the goss has been exciting!)- the one's I have seen so far, it's been so good to see such familiar faces again! There will be a post soon - I think I need some time to process everything a little first. At the moment I'm kind of tired jet lagged start-laughing-and-find-it-hard-to-stop, haha... i think I'll go to bed now before I start contesting Emma for length (if thats possible) And btw, the trip was amazing - very... full. Will think of more adjectives later.
